WHAM

Larry recently preached a sermon in which he said something like:

During Pentecost, the gift of tongues was not so that the disciples could have a spiritual high; it was given to them so they could communicate with the thousands of people from all over the world who were in the city that day. It was like the disciples were saying, "If only we could talk to them" and WHAM, they had the gift of tongues. That's what the Holy Spirit does now, too. If we need something that's out of our reach in order to do ministry, God will provide it.

The same week Larry preached that sermon, he and I were saying, "If only we lived in Fishers so we could connect better with folks in that community," and WHAM, we got a random phone call from someone who remembered we had our house for sale last year; she wanted to know if we were still interested in selling.

The poor economy—and even our lack of granite countertops—is not too great an obstacle for God. If he needs us in Fishers, it'll all work out. Best of all, if God has really chosen us for this great responsibility (as it seems he has), I'm confident he'll equip us for every step along the way.

What do you need to be effective in ministry? Don't be afraid to ask God for it.

PS The potential buyer is viewing our house on Friday. Please join us in praying that our house will be a perfect fit for this family.

And when you're expecting a WHAM, don't be too disappointed if it doesn't come, when, how and where you expect it. Because God does things in His way and in His timing. Little lession I've had to learn the hard way. But ALWAYS expect something.

I pray all goes well. I'm praying for a miracle that will allow me to stay home to write full-time and build a speaking ministry to inspire others on not giving up. But the bills have to be paid, and I need clear direction as to how to do that in my transition.
